Division History in WWII: The 507th Parachute Infantry was initially formed at Fort Benning, Georgia and during WWII went specifically on 3 operations. D-Day (which Bello survived), the Battle of the Bulge and Operation Varsity both of which would have been after they had lost 1SG Bello.  They had been relocated while in Northern Ireland to replace a redeployed unit. They were then in August of 1944 permanently assigned to the 17th Airborne Division. A lot of this is a direct contribution of the Infantry's bravery and determination that Bello showed with his sacrifice.

General Equipment: Paratroopers would carry an average of 70 pounds of equipment including the parachute, guns, ammo, water, compasses, gas masks, and any special equipment needed for the mission. This would often be carried in a leg bag.
