Major State WWII History:

Bello's home state of Pennsylvania actually contributed drastically the war effort, being the home of many crucial factories. These factories would produce many vital resources needed to win the war, such as coal and steel. Much like the rest of the country many Pennsylvanians worked in the factories and those who didn't would contribute to metal and rubber drives, donating items such as tin cans, and rubber tires. Pennsylvania also faced food shortages from all the resources being sent overseas and were forced into rationing and family farming with gardens called "Victory Gardens". Citizens also would contribute by making bandages, buying and selling war bond loans, and participating in Red Cross drives.

State Contribution to the War:

Ammunition Production:

* Hays Army Ammunition Plant; located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Supplied 16-inch shells and 5inch breechblocks for the Navy.

* The National Munitions Company; Eldred, Pennsylvania; Created explosives and tested explosives as well as pellets for the war.

* Frankford Arsenal; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Originally made in 1816 took leadership role in WWII not only producing (primarily small) ammunition, but also training employees in the basics of mass production in military ammunition.

Military Vehicle Factories:

* Berwick ACF; Berwick Pennsylvania; Made Honey Tanks that contributed to the success of the allies in WWII (originally a car producer, still produced cars and train cars but added tanks to the list)

Steel Production:

* Steel production in Pittsburg SHOT UP immediately in response the war effort. They ended up increasing production by 200% in just the first year of America entering the war. The Mesta Machine was a massive contributor to this. This also brought a ton of jobs to Pittsburg Residents.

Agricultural Production:

* Many residents of Pennsylvania were forced into subsistence agriculture as a result of the rationing during WWII. These small farms were know as "Victory Gardens" and were wildly popular for people on the home front to have in order to support the war effort. It was important for these gardens to include foods high in nutritional value and could consist of Beans, Beets, Cabbage, Carrots, Kale, Lettuce, Peas, Tomatoes, Turnips, Squash, and Swiss Chard.

Recruitment Centers and Military Bases:

* For those who did decide to go and fight for the country rather than contribute at home there were a variety of options for those living in Pennsylvania. There were recruitment centers all over PA however specifically in the bigger cities such as Pittsburg and in 1SG. Bello's case Philadelphia. Some important depots for the Military in WWII would have been Letterkenny Army Depot located near Chambersburg, Philadelphia Navy Yard, and New Cumberland Army Service Forces Depot.
